Nope.

1) Don't like blood.
2) Don't like pain.
3) Don't like death.

On purpose or by accident?
...hrm. Stupid question. We all have by accident (shaving..).

I haven't. But I have some friends who have... they said it makes them feel like they're real - that they're alive (they're not depressed people, either). I've wondered how it feels, but I don't like being in pain. Cutting myself while shaving is bad enough :P

its amazing how some people do it for attention. i mean if you thought life was so bad and you wanted to end it at least please cut the right way. i volunteer with a bunch of kids grade 1 - 7 and yesterday i was playing uno with some of them and this grade 7 girl had cuts on her FOREARM. i was hoping that they were some sort of accidents but they looked really deep and sorta fresh looking. she even rolled up her sleeves when me and my friends were talking to her sorta hoping that we'd catch a view of her cuts. no offence to anyone that's done it but its a really dumb idea ...

my best friend used to do it. when I realized she was doing it, I talked to her about it. She doesn't do it anymore, but I'm fairly sure she did it because she was having a really really hard time and she needed to feel in control.

I'm fairly sure that makes me sound like I'm pretending that I'm talking about my friend but really its about me ahah. but it isn't! I don't think I could ever do the self mutilation thing...the thought of it makes me want to faint.

I did once or twice. Except I'd never cut deep/hard enough to actually bleed.. it was more like a scratch. I don't do well with pain.
My friend had started cutting herself, which gave me the idea to take anger out like that, but it didn't work.

My friend's brother did it once, over a girl. He carved her named onto his thigh because they broke up.

I know it's really weird, but I don't know what to do. I saw her talking to the teacher though, so maybe it's ok..

I used to but save for one time, I haven't done it for two years. I'm a very emotional person so I feel things very strongly. It was a form of release to me.

yeah i have but i've stopped. i think people who say its just for attention should go shut their mouth. some people do it because thats just their way of relieving their anger. if that girl did want to show you, then maybe you should talk about it and not say "yeah..maybe i should go talk to her about it" after someone told you to not criticizes her. and wth do you mean miscELAINEous by " i mean if you thought life was so bad and you wanted to end it at least please cut the right way"? what do you know honestly. but anyway my scars are going away but after doing it, it makes people realize that it was a dumb way to relieve themselves or just a dumb way to ask for help. but it really did help in a way.

I've never cut but I have two friends that have. One was my boyfriend, last summer I saw him with scars on his wrists. He wasn't your typical teenage boy, rather one of those thoughtful/pothead ones, so I wasn't very surprised, but at first, believe it or not, I was scared of him, and then I just started to worry. And then this past December, a really good friend of mine confided in me that she has been cutting since grade 9 - and we're in grade 12 now. That was a shocker. Neither of them were doing it for attention, I know them well enough to know that.

I've done it too, but I haven't in over a year. I'm basically the same as polarfreeze - I'm a very emotional person - but I don't like sharing my discomfort with others beause I don't like bringing them down. I did it because it just seemed like a release. And no - cutting yourself doesn't mean that you hate your life and you want to die, that's not what it meant for me.

Now, I do get annoyed with little chickies and guys who cut their wrists for attention. My friend just broke up with his girlfriend because she was too young, she's like 13 or 14. And she decided life was horrible because he broke up with her, and she started cutting her wrist and taking pills she had no idea what they were. She'd sit there in complete view of everyone and compare scars and cuts to her little teeny bopper oh-so-horrible-lived friends. And she thought it was fantastic she was being a rebel about taking pills. If she thinks a break up is the most horrible thing that happens, she should look at some other peoples lives. Like my friend. She just lost her brother to cancer. Break ups hardly seem worthy to be compared to death. I know my life gets bad sometimes, but you get through it. Doing shit like that is worthless to me now, because I don't need to hurt physically, I can deal with it in other ways.

^^how did i stop..hmm, well..

i got to a point in my life where my cutting made me so depressed that i could never truly be happy, no matter how much i tried thered be this dark cloud looming over me. so, my pyschologist prescribed me zoloft (anti depressant) after i took this test to see if i was clincally depressed, turns out i was. basically i came to a crossroads, if i should let drugs control my brain or just try to get myself out of this funk. i decided i wouldnt take the drugs, i could get through everything on my own. pretty much i confronted everything that was really bothering me..and its really hard too, cutting is a really dangerous cycle. ive stopped for a year now, but maybe a few months ago i did it again, but i didnt really count that as i didnt do it repeatedly..hmm..to get myself out of the cycle whenever i felt like doing it id just think of how sad and depressed it made me, and that when i have a problem it may seem really big to me one day but when you wake up the next day itll usually seem like nothing at all when i felt like cutting id draw with a red marker all over my arm or put an ice pack on it to numb it. it also really helps to talk to someone, someone who cares about you, if you hold your problems inside youll only feel like cutting more. hope i helped!

Yes, in grade 8 and a few relapses right after grade 9 (I'm in grade 11 now). It definitely wasn't for attention though....I went through every precaution to make sure noone knew: wearing long sleeve shirts, covering them with makeup, getting changed in the washroom stalls in gym class/ringette lockerrooms. Now, a few years later, very few people know....a handful of my close friends, my sister, and you guys, i guess.

But my best guy friend does...and I don't know what to do to get him to stop.

I've never cut myself (oooh, and I'm an MCR fan, the ironyyyy).

I've basically given up voicing my opinion on cutting. Some people do it for attention, but some people do it if they're actually depressed. To make things simple, the people who are geniunely depressed (as in it's in their genetic makeup to be more prone to depression then others) I hope that they get help and they know that it's really a bullshit way to piss your life away, and that they get lots of help and support to get through that hard time.

I've been in contact with some really depressed people and I can imagine why they do it, but in an attempt to not sound stupid I won't say it.

For people who cut for attention, well, that's pretty sad too and they should get help as well.

If anyone thinks that they ought to cut, I just say we get them help, because helping someone is better than scolding them. But getting pissed at someone who's cutting will probably make them feel worse about themselves, and from what I've seen most of the time when people are geniunely depressed it's not exactly about life, but because they had disgust for themselves.

Cutting yourself because you hate yourself makes more sense than cutting yourself because you hate life, right?

Whoops. Didn't mean for this to get so long.

Anyways, I just say get people help. And I've never cut myself because even though there was a time when I actually was on anti-depressants I saw what cutting and stuff did to people, so I stayed away.

Adios.

^^^Well it's a nice gesture but it might take more than a stress ball.

^I don't think it's fair to say that every cutter is either a) seeking attention or b) clinically depressed, just because not every emotional teen with angst has depression encoded in their genetic makeup. I get what you're saying though, some do it for attention, and some do it because that's the solution that they see, and I agree with that.

Kinda personal question... Well, I know a girl who has her exboyfriend's name carved on her wrist. Which she's gonna have forever, I think most people don't realize that once you do it the scar is going to be there forever. Oh and apparantly snapping an elastic band on your wrist can help you stop, because it still really hurts and it leaves a mark but the mark goes away in around a day.
I have done it a couple times to but never really told anyone but my closest friend when I finally stopped. I think a few people noticed but they never did anything or told me directly that they knew. I was just going through a rough time I guess, and the scars aren't that bad because I was scared to go too deep.

yup. two years ago I had what my friends now call my emo stage. I did it a few times, but I don't anymore and the scars have faded and.. yeah.
