Anyone else joining the wonderful class of 2009? Who's pumped? Am I the only one?
Yay, seniors! It's about time.
I'm secretly so excited to get my timetable in the mail in August. What are you all planning to take, and where/what do you plan on going/doing after high school?
Questions, questions *sigh* _________________

Grade 12 here I come!
I am very excited for this year. It's going to be the year of getting down to business and doing amazing. I'll be working too, at one job at least, but I'm hoping to get a job lifeguarding as well.
For classes I have:
first semester:
~gym (which is a joke, full of stoners, and I'm dropping it because it's open level anyway)
~bio
~exercise science
~advanced functions
second semester:
~chemistry
~food and nutrition science
~calculus
~english
I plan on applying to Guelph for Bio-Med, McMaster for Health Sciences, and Queen's Med program (I haven't really researched it yet). But I'm really considering Guelph the most, because I don't really like Hamilton all that much. I may go to Mac's med school though after my undergrad.
I've even started looking at scholarships . Although most aren't updated from last year yet. _________________

Well I don't know what semester my courses in (except Math 30 Pure first semester and Math 31 second semester). I decided not to take AP Math 30, even though I got 97 in it... I'm going to be so busy so I don't know if I can handle it. I just want to keep high, high grades and get in where I want.
Courses I am taking:
English 30 AP (might opt out as well, haha)
Chemistry 30
Math 30 Pure
Math 31
Social Studies 30
French 30
2 Spares (one each semester)
I've already completed Biology 30 with 92%.
I'm applying early, for a major entrance award to Queen's for Commerce (if I don't get in I'll die die die). I know somebody already going with the same scholarship so I have a 'mentor' of sorts. I'm hoping to apply for other scholarships too, like Millenium and LORAN, and other big ones. I'm very involved in my school and community and my service hours are going into the thousands now. I won't be working because I'll probably be too busy this upcoming year... eek!

^ I've looked at the
Millenium -- $20 000
Loran -- $8 000
TD (MAJOR !! MUST GET! LOL) -- $60 000
a President's Scholarship @ Guelph -- $20 000
Terry Fox Humanitarian Award -- $6 000
and there's others but those were the ones I have saved.
major money! _________________

^LORAN is actually $75,000, not $8000. Apply for that as well! It's an amazing scholarship.
I'm going to apply for TD as well. I have a friend who actually won it this year... but she's amazing, so of course she did. But she also won Queen's Chancellor's ($36000) and had to turn it down, Millenium National, was a LORAN finalist.
Plus I have similar extracurriculars to her (we're on all the same committees and such). Her average was WAY higher though (think like over 95 in IB higher).
So I have a 'mentor' of sorts, as I like to call it.
But yeah... I had something awesome happen to me today... I was given a VIP role within a magazine distributed across BC and Alberta (Youthink) so I'd like to put that on the application as well.
BUT GOOD LUCK ST3PH I'M SURE YOU'LL WIN ALL OF THEM!!!
Plus, what's cool about TD is that you'll have a guaranteed summer job for all of university _________________

^ oh geeze yeah it is 75 000...i knew there was one ridiculous amount, it's just cause in the overview it says 8 yet the desription says 75 and i didn't even bother to open it. but yes 75 000 dollars is an amazing amount, and i was telling my friend last night about it and he's like wow, you're all set to go if you win that one.
and why thank you! i am trying my best this year and really getting involved, good luck to you as well! _________________

^Awesome! And my friend also told me it's better to have quality over quantity of activities. Being in a whole bunch of different clubs but not doing much is so different from being involved in leadership and a multitude of activities that show your strengths and well-roundedness. _________________
